The Israeli military operation in the Qalandia refugee camp and the neighboring town of Kafr Aqab, north of occupied Jerusalem, continued for a second consecutive day on Thursday. Israeli forces deployed additional reinforcements across both areas and carried out extensive raids on homes and other facilities.
During the overnight operation, Israeli forces detained Mohamed Ammar and blew up parts of his home. Ambulances were also prevented from transporting patients to hospitals.
Since the operation began on Wednesday, several young men have reportedly been detained and assaulted by Israeli forces. A young woman was also allegedly assaulted at the entrance of Qalandia camp while attempting to reach her home.
Israeli forces imposed movement restrictions on residents of Qalandia, raided numerous homes and facilities, entered the headquarters of the Popular Committee, distributed warning leaflets to residents, and detained and interrogated several people during the operation.
On Thursday morning, Israeli bulldozers began demolishing several commercial stores near the Qalandia military checkpoint amid a heavy military presence.
According to the Palestinian Red Crescent, its paramedics have provided first aid to 10 people who were injured following alleged assaults by Israeli soldiers in Qalandia. The organization also said that its medical teams were prevented from entering the camp overnight despite the presence of several patients in need of medical assistance.
Local sources said Israeli forces continued to use several homes in Qalandia as military posts after forcing the families living there to evacuate.
