Aligarh, The Department of Radiodiagnosis, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University, organised a CME and workshop on “Interventional Radiology in the Management of Liver Cancer: Recent Advances,” strengthening its commitment to excellence in patient care.
The programme brought together faculty members, residents, delegates and medical professionals to discuss the rapidly evolving role of image-guided, minimally invasive procedures in liver cancer management. The sessions highlighted advances in transarterial therapies, tumour ablation and other targeted locoregional interventions that can offer precise treatment with reduced invasiveness.
The key academic session was delivered by Dr.Zergham Zia, Chairman of Radiology and Consultant Interventional Radiologist, King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre, Jeddah. Drawing upon his international experience, including appointments at Queen Elizabeth Hospital and the University of Birmingham, Dr. Zia discussed contemporary approaches to interventional oncology and emerging possibilities in liver cancer treatment.
Prof. Mohd. Mohsin Khan, Pro Vice Chancellor, AMU, who was the guest of honour, congratulated the Department of Radiodiagnosis for organising the academic programme and appreciated the interventional radiology services being developed at JNMCH.
Prof. Mohammed Khalid, Dean, Faculty of Medicine, and Prof. Anjum Parvez, Principal and Chief Medical Superintendent, JNMCH, emphasised the growing importance of minimally invasive interventions in improving cancer care. The programme was organised under the leadership of Prof. Mehtab Ahmad, Organising Chairman; Prof. Saifullah Khalid, Organising Secretary; and Dr. S. M. Danish Qaseem, Organising Co-Secretary. Dr.Asna Ilham (Junior Resident) conducted the proceedings.
The CME provided a valuable platform for sharing expertise, encouraging multidisciplinary learning and exploring the integration of advanced technologies into clinical practice. The programme highlighted JNMCH’s continuing quest for academic excellence, technological advancement and patient-centred care.
