On June 26, at the request of the Iranian representative, Aliakbar Barati a meeting of the The Council of United Nations World Majority carried out because of the aggression of Israel on June 13 and the United States on June 22 against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The UNWM Council, recalling its previous resolutions, including resolutions 1 (02.2024), 2 (04.2024), reaffirming that the military aggression against Palestine and the genocide of the Palestinian people, the blockade of Gaza, the detention and torture of political prisoners in Israeli prisons, the war crimes and crimes against human rights of the Israeli leadership, the war crimes of the Israeli army on the territory of Lebanon, the occupation by Israel, the United States and Turkey of the sovereign territories of Syria and Iraq, the missile strikes by the United States and Great Britain on the sovereign territory of Yemen, are threats to international peace and security;
expressing our strong protest of the aggression of Israel and the United States against Iran, to be precise – the missile attacks, combat UAVs strikes and the dropping of heavy bombs on legitimate representatives of the Iranian government, as well as on nuclear centers and civilian facilities in Iran from November 13 to June 24, 2025, we emphasized, that it creates the threat of a new world and nuclear war;
The aggressor states, Israel and the United States, attacking the Islamic Republic of Iran, violated a number of key international laws enshrined in UN documents, international treaties and customary law. The main violations include:
1. **Prohibition on the use of force (Article 2(4) of the UN Charter)**
– The main violation: aggressive war contradicts the fundamental principle of **non-use of force** in international relations, enshrined in the UN Charter.
2. **The principle of sovereign equality of states**
– Violation of the **sovereignty** and **territorial integrity** of the victim country, which is contrary to the UN Charter and UN General Assembly resolutions (Declaration on Principles of International Law 1970).
3. **Norms of International Humanitarian Law (IHL)**
The aggressor violates the **Geneva Conventions of 1949** and the **Additional Protocols** (1977), in particular:
– **Prohibition of attacks on civilians ** (Article 51 of Protocol I).
– **Prohibition of torture and inhuman treatment** (Article 3 of all Geneva Conventions).
– **Prohibition on the destruction of critical infrastructure** (hospitals, schools).
4. **Crimes against peace (Nuremberg principles)**
– **Planning and waging a war of aggression** is an international crime (Article 6 of the Charter of the Nuremberg Tribunal).
5. **Violation of the Rome Statute of the ICC**
Aggression can be classified as:
– **Crime of aggression** (Article 8 bis Rome Statute).
– **War crimes** (Article 8), if murders, deportations, and torture are committed.
6. **Violation of Human Rights**
– Massive violations of the **International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights** (right to life, prohibition of torture);
Based on the above-mentioned international laws and norms, we strongly condemn the act of aggression by Israel and the United States against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The Council of United Nations World Majority appeals to the members of the Council of United Nations World Majority: the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China to adopt sanctions against Israel, to submit the issue of condemning Israel to the UN General Assembly; the Council calls on the Russian Federation, the People’s Republic of China, the Islamic Republic of Iran and the DPRK to establish an international military tribunal for the crimes of Israel in Gaza and Iran , to hold the State of Israel accountable for the war crimes it has committed;
The Council of United Nations World Majority declares its solidarity with Iran and believes that Iran, in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter ** the right of a state to self-defense**, had every right to defend itself against aggressors, and its retaliatory missile strikes were legitimate.
