Belgium Expands Dairy and Pork Trade Cooperation with India.

Ambassador Didier Vanderhasselt and high-ranking officials from India’s Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, such as Secretary Alka Upadhyaya, Deputy Secretary Sanjib Bhattacharya, Deputy Commissioner Gagan Garg, and Assistant Commissioner Aniruddha Udaykar, had a productive meeting.

Babette Desfossez, who works for Flanders Investment and Trade, and Patrick Govaert, an economic counselor, were also there for the talks. The official approval of the sanitary certificate for the export of Belgian dairy products to India was one of the most important things that came out of the meeting. This is a big step forward in agri-food cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting also talked about how Belgian pork is becoming more common in India and is now a regular item on Indian restaurant menus. Belgium is now India’s biggest exporter of pork. This is because there is a lot of demand for it and trade relations are good.

In September, a business delegation from the Belgian Meat Office will visit India to strengthen business ties. They will meet in Delhi, Assam, Mumbai, and Bengaluru.
