ALIGARH, September 23: The National Hindi Day was celebrated with great zeal across several schools of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), featuring competitions, debates, quizzes, and creative activities aimed at promoting Hindi language and literature among students.
The Senior Secondary School (Girls) organized a debate and essay writing competition. The debate, on the topic “Cinema and Social Media Play the Most Significant Role in Promoting Hindi,” saw active participation from students. Kumari Swaleha secured first position, followed by Arpana Bhardwaj in second place, with Maryam Khan and Meenakshi Rajput jointly taking third. In the essay competition, students reflected on the contemporary relevance of Hindi, and winners were felicitated. Principal Mrs. Naghma Irfan emphasized the cultural importance of Hindi, encouraging students to use it with pride. The event was conducted by Madiha Manzar under the guidance of teachers Khalida Tarnnum and Shahista Hisham, with vote of thanks by Nabeela Adnan and Rizwana Shah.
Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh AMU City School conducted a series of activities as part of Hindi Fortnight, including drawing, essay writing, slogan writing, and a speech competition for classes IX to XII. The final event will feature an inter-school general knowledge quiz with participation from around ten schools across Aligarh. The programme was coordinated under the guidance of Dr.Zulfiquar.

At S.T.S. School (Minto Circle), a debate competition was held on “India Mein Bhasha Ke Aadhar Par Avasar Aur Samman.” Humera (AMU City Girls High School) won first place, followed by Fauzia Shakeel (AMU City Girls High School) in second, and Shanvi Jain (AMU ABK High School Girls) and Lakshya Sharma (S.T.S. School) jointly securing third. The panel of judges included Dr. Gulam Fareed Sabri and Dr.RahilaRais from the Hindi Department, AMU. Principal Faisal Nafees congratulated the winners, highlighting that language is a medium of expression rather than a determinant of opportunity or respect. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Afroze Bano, in the presence of teachers, vice-principal Dr. Mohammad Alamgir, and other staff.
Finally, at Abdullah School, the Hindi Day was celebrated with story writing and slogan writing competitions. Original stories were composed around moral themes such as “Jaisi Karni WaisiBharni,” “Seva ka Sukh,” “Satya ki Jeet,” and “Jab Jago TabhiSawera,” while slogans creatively expressed the significance of Hindi. The event, organized under the supervision of School Superintendent, Ms. Umra Zaheer, encouraged students to showcase their talent and develop creative writing skills.
