In a time when journalism often struggles to balance truth with influence, Haji Dr. Mohsin Ali Suhail stands as a shining example of integrity, courage, and patriotism. His career, spanning over four decades, is a testament to how fearless journalism can drive social change, empower communities, and strengthen the democratic fabric of the nation.
Born on 7 May 1953, Dr. Suhail displayed a deep sense of curiosity and social consciousness from an early age. Even as a schoolboy, he questioned injustice and societal silence. “Whenever I saw problems around me, I wondered why people accepted them quietly,” he recalls. “I decided that I would grow up to raise my voice.” That determination shaped a lifelong mission: to use journalism as a tool for truth and transformation.
A Journey Rooted in Service and Truth
Dr. Suhail’s journalistic journey began in 1979 with a small local newspaper. Resources were limited, but his resolve was limitless. The joy of seeing his first byline in print was surpassed only by the satisfaction of hearing that his story had helped solve real problems. From that moment on, journalism became more than a profession it became his patriotic duty.
Over the years, he expanded his work across print, television, and digital media, reporting fearlessly on politics, governance, inequality, education, healthcare, and grassroots development. His investigative reports dug deeper than headlines, uncovering the realities that affect ordinary citizens. For Dr. Suhail, journalism meant more than informing the public it meant empowering them.

Voice of the People, Strength of the Nation
Dr. Suhail’s work has consistently reflected his belief that a journalist’s primary duty is to build a bridge between the people and those in power. His reports have often forced authorities to take corrective action. Investigations into the failing healthcare system in Raipur led to government inquiries and improvements. His reporting on crumbling schools prompted teacher appointments and infrastructure repairs. Exposés on corruption resulted in disciplinary action against officials.
Even the smallest issues such as water scarcity, power cuts, and broken roads—found a place in his reporting. For Dr. Suhail, no issue is too small if it affects citizens’ daily lives. This unwavering focus on people’s concerns has earned him immense respect and made him one of Chhattisgarh’s most trusted voices.
A Leader in Indian Urdu Journalism
Currently serving as Editor of the Urdu daily “Almukaddas”, Dr. Suhail has also held leadership positions at major publications, including Raj Express, National Look, Dainik Karnpriya, and Dainik Nyayadhish. He is the founding Editor-Publisher of Raipur Samachar and a pioneer in promoting Urdu journalism in the region.
His influence extends beyond India. Representing the nation at international Urdu conferences and literary gatherings across London, Tehran, Sharjah, Karbala, Mashhad, and many more, Dr. Suhail has been a cultural ambassador, showcasing the strength of India’s journalistic tradition on global platforms.
Facing Challenges with Courage
Dr. Suhail’s journey has not been without challenges. He has faced attempts to silence his voice and suppress his stories. “Sometimes it feels that telling the truth is the biggest crime,” he says. “But my pen will never bow down to fear.” His resolve reflects the spirit of Indian democracy—where truth must prevail despite pressure.
Honours and Contributions
In recognition of his contribution to journalism and society, Dr. Suhail has received numerous awards, including an honorary doctorate from the University of Delhi, the Nisare Adab Award (London), Sadbhavana Award, Chhattisgarh Ratna Samman, and Amir Khusro Award, among others.
Beyond journalism, he has been deeply involved in education and social service. He has worked on committees for the Chhattisgarh Urdu Academy, State Haj Committee, and Waqf Board, and has promoted free Urdu, Arabic, and Hindi education for underprivileged children. As founding president of Chhattisgarh Gulistan Adab, he has nurtured literary talent and preserved India’s linguistic heritage.
Legacy of Patriotism and Public Service
At its core, Dr. Mohsin Ali Suhail’s work is about nation-building. His journalism strengthens democracy by holding power accountable. His reporting uplifts the voiceless and exposes injustice. His literary contributions enrich India’s cultural fabric. And his social work embodies the values of equality, education, and empowerment that are central to the idea of India.
Dr. Suhail’s message to young journalists is simple yet powerful: “Don’t chase headlines. Chase the truth. Journalism should change society—and change comes only from honesty and depth.”
