On October 24, 2025 at the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Delhi, India has been signed an annex to the Agreement for Providing Visa Services in the territory of India between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the republic of Bulgaria and VFS Global, according to which was taken into account since November 1 at the issued visa centers of the company on the territory of India Applications for “D” visas for long-term residency of foreign citizens in Bulgaria will be able to be accepted.
The principal option for outsourcing the Type D visa application service was established in early 2025. through the introduction of amendments to the Visa Conditions and Procedure Regulation (NURUVOVR), through which external service providers such as VFS Global have been given the opportunity to collect biometric data of D visa applicants in the countries where they have signed contracts for representation. According to the changes in the Regulation, interviews with applicants for the “D” visa will be conducted by the Consular Official (KDL) online, with the purpose of creating specially equipped premises in the company’s offices, through which a video connection between the visa applicant and the KDL can be realized.
The changes in NURUVOVR were inspired by the Bulgarian business and industry organizations in the country and aim to accelerate the administrative service to work visa applicants, especially to those from India and its neighboring countries, which in turn will enable their timely infusion into the Bulgarian labor market.
The Embassy in Delhi extends its gratitude to the Bulgarian institutions for their support in the process of optimizing the work of the Consular Service, expecting that with the entry into force of the annex to the contract between the Ministry of Internal Affairs and VFS Global for the provision of visa services to India, the number of applications to be submitted. processed by the Consular Service team.
On 24 October 2025 an Addendum to the Agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria and VFS Global Services Pvt. Ltd. for the Provision of Visa Services in India, was signed at the premises of the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in New Delhi, India.
As per the Addendum, starting 1 November 2025 the company’s Visa Application Centres in India will start accepting visa type “D” applications for long-term residence in the Republic of Bulgaria.
Outsourcing of visa type “D” application was made possible at the beginning of 2025 with the introduction of certain changes in the Bulgarian legislation. As per the new regulations, interviews with applicants for visa “D” may be conducted by the respective Consular officer online, whereas the visa applicant can participate in the said interview with the help of specially designed facilities, available at the Visa Application Centres of VFS Global Services.
The above mentioned change of regulations was introduced at the request of the Bulgarian business and industry organizations and aims to accelerate the administrative services provided to the applicants for work visas, which would facilitate their timely integration into the labour market in Bulgaria.
