Belarus and India Deepen Strategic Partnership at Eighth Round of Political Consultations in Minsk

The eighth round of consultations on general political issues between the ministries of foreign affairs of the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of India was held in Minsk on October 27.

The Belarusian side was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Evgeny Shestakov, and the Indian – Deputy Minister of foreign affairs Sibi George. The parties noted a significant intensification of bilateral contacts amid the current geopolitical turbulence in the world, which is a confirmation of high mutual trust and support, as well as a basis for further intensification and expansion of bilateral ties.

During the negotiations, the entire range of issues of Belarus-India relations were discussed, including the development of political dialogue, the enhancement of mutual trade and production cooperation, the expansion of the contractual-legal base, bilateral cooperation within international organizations, cooperation with the EAEC, the CHOS and the BRICS, and the assistance of direct bilateral contacts in humanitarian areas. There was an exchange of views on topical topics of the regional and global agenda.

The parties noted that the potential of bilateral interaction is not fully realized and that there is a wide list of directions of mutual interest.

The head of the Indian delegation was also received by Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov. Interlocutors noted the dynamic development of cooperation between Belarus and India in the most important areas, including political, economic and humanitarian.

During the talks, the full range of issues related to Belarusian-Indian relations was discussed, including the development of political dialogue, increasing mutual trade and industrial cooperation, expanding the legal framework, bilateral interaction within international organizations, cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Union, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and BRICS, and promoting direct bilateral contacts in humanitarian areas. They also exchanged views on current regional and global issues.

The parties noted that the potential for bilateral cooperation is not being fully realized and that there are a wide range of areas of mutual interest.
