Vatican City — According to a PIC report, Pope Leo XIV, the head of the Vatican, expressed deep concern over the Israel–Palestine conflict, saying that this decades-long bloodshed can only end through a two-state solution. In his address on Sunday, he reminded the world that the Vatican has consistently supported this solution, as it is the only path that can ease the suffering of both sides.

The Pope said that even though Israel is not ready to accept this proposal today, there seems to be no other hope for real peace. According to him, “The two-state solution is the only doorway that can lead from the ashes of war toward peace.

According to the report, since 7 October 2023 the situation in Gaza has become extremely horrific. The article claims that Israel’s military action is being described as a “genocide,” involving killings, starvation, destruction, displacement, and mass arrests. The report states that more than 239,000 Palestinians have been reported killed or injured so far, most of them women and children. It also says that over 11,000 people are reported missing, and millions have been forced from their homes.

In addition, according to the report, a large part of Gaza has turned into rubble, and hunger has also claimed the lives of countless children. Amid this tragic situation, Pope Leo XIV has appealed to the international community to step forward immediately and advance the two-state solution in order to end this painful conflict.
