Aligarh , January 5: The Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Prof. Naima Khatoon, attended the release of Khutbat-e-Modi, a book compiling the Independence Day speeches of Prime Minister Narendra Modi translated into Urdu, at the Ministry of Education.
The book, brought out by the National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL), presents Prime Minister Modi’s Independence Day addresses delivered from the Red Fort over the past decade, making them accessible to Urdu readers and reinforcing the language’s place in contemporary public discourse.
The volume was released by Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, who also addressed the gathering. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the book reflects the Prime Minister’s vision of inclusive development, national unity, and collective responsibility. He emphasised that translating these speeches into Urdu is a meaningful step towards linguistic inclusion and recognition of Urdu as an integral part of India’s cultural and intellectual heritage.
Expressing her happiness and gratification at being invited to and participating in the programme, Prof. Naima Khatoon said that such initiatives resonate strongly with the academic and cultural ethos of Aligarh Muslim University, which has historically contributed to the preservation and advancement of Urdu as a language of scholarship, dialogue, and thought.
The programme was attended by a select group of dignitaries, including the Shri Vineet Joshi, Secretary, Higher Education, Shri Chamu Krishna Shastri (Chairman, Bhartiya Bhasha Samiti) and Dr. Md. Shams Equbal Director, NCPUL and senior officials of the Ministry of Education.
