The Office of the Dean Students’ Welfare (DSW), Jamia Hamdard University, in collaboration with Dr. Reddy’s Forum for Health Education (DRFHE), organized a Physical Wellness Session titled “Understanding Respiratory Allergies” on January 13, 2026, at the university campus.
The session was conducted as a physical event from 3:00 PM onwards and featured Dr. Sourav Chakraborty, ENT Specialist, as the resource person. Around 45 faculty members, staff, and students from the Schools of SUMER (Unani Medicine), SAHSR (Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Paramedical Sciences), and SNER (Nursing) participated in the programme.
The event began with a welcome address by Prof. Dr. Reshma Nasreen, Dean Students’ Welfare, who highlighted the importance of preventive healthcare and wellness awareness among the university community. Dr. Chakraborty delivered an informative one-hour session focusing on the causes, symptoms, prevention, and management of respiratory allergies. He also addressed common myths related to allergies, using real-life examples to make the session engaging and interactive. An active question-and-answer segment further enriched the discussion.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sahar Zaidi (PT), Assistant Dean Students’ Welfare (ADSW). The resource person was felicitated with a memento, certificate, and a planter in appreciation of his valuable contribution.
Participants provided overwhelmingly positive feedback, appreciating the practical and clinically relevant insights shared during the session. Many attendees expressed interest in similar wellness programmes in the future, particularly on topics such as diabetes management and stress reduction.
The successful conduct of the session reaffirmed Jamia Hamdard’s commitment to holistic wellness, in alignment with DRFHE’s CSR initiative, “Prevention is Better than Cure.” The programme was conducted smoothly without any logistical challenges.
