Ottawa — Canadians have until January 27, 2026, to participate in public consultations on the Canada–India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), as the federal government seeks input to help shape Canada’s negotiation position.
The consultations are part of Canada’s broader trade strategy aimed at strengthening economic ties with India, one of the world’s fastest-growing major economies. Feedback from individuals, businesses, labour groups, Indigenous organizations, and other stakeholders will inform Canada’s priorities as negotiations move forward.
According to the government, the CEPA is expected to support efforts to attract new investments, open access to expanding markets, and create opportunities for Canadian workers and businesses across multiple sectors. Areas of interest include trade in goods and services, supply chains, labour, the environment, and inclusive economic growth.
Officials are encouraging Canadians to share their perspectives before the consultation period closes, emphasizing that public input plays a key role in ensuring trade agreements reflect national interests and domestic priorities.
Submissions can be made through the Government of Canada’s official consultation channels until the January 27 deadline.
