Humanitarian catastrophe at its peak in Gaza; even the most basic necessities of life are absent

The humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip has reached a dangerous turning point. Gaza Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal has warned that conditions have become extremely serious and unprecedented, with even the most basic necessities of life having completely run out.

In a press statement issued on Monday, Basal said that the Israeli occupation authorities are using the issue of the remains of Israeli captives as a pretext to block the entry of essential humanitarian aid into Gaza, further deepening the crisis.

He revealed that since the start of the war, thousands of Palestinian bodies have remained buried under the rubble. These include children, women, and people with special needs. Due to the lack of heavy machinery, these bodies have not yet been recovered.

According to Basal, thousands of civilians especially children, women, and the sick are enduring suffering during the war and its aftermath that goes beyond human endurance. He warned that if this situation continues, the loss of life and property will increase further, and the humanitarian tragedy will take on an even more horrific scale.

The Gaza Civil Defense has called on international institutions, human rights organizations, and mediators to take immediate and concrete action. This includes fully opening the Rafah border crossing, allowing the entry of heavy machinery to clear rubble and recover bodies, ensuring the uninterrupted supply of humanitarian and medical aid, and immediately beginning reconstruction efforts.
