Gaza Civil Defense revelation: Nearly 8,000 bodies still buried under the rubble

Amid the ongoing devastation in the Gaza Strip, Gaza Civil Defense has revealed a serious situation. Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal stated that nearly 8,000 bodies are still buried under the rubble of destroyed buildings in various areas of Gaza. This information was released in press statements issued on Thursday.

According to Basal, Civil Defense teams are continuously engaged in search and rescue operations, but they are working under extremely difficult conditions and with limited resources. Due to these challenges, it has not been possible to reach many of the destroyed sites. He also stated that more than 3,000 people are still listed as missing. There is no confirmation about whether these individuals are alive, have been killed, or are in detention.

During the relief operations, another serious problem has emerged. According to Basal, due to the prolonged inability to remove the rubble and the severe shortage of heavy machinery and essential technical equipment, hundreds of bodies have decomposed or become difficult to identify.

Gaza Civil Defense says that despite limited resources, teams are continuing their efforts; however, under the current conditions, carrying out large-scale relief and recovery operations remains extremely challenging.
