Jamia Millia Islamia marked Unani Day, celebrating the legacy of Hakim Ajmal Khan and Unani medicine

New Delhi, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI)’s Unani Medicine and Allied Sciences, under Faculty of Life Sciences, marked the birth anniversary of Hakim Ajmal Khan (11 February) with a special Unani Day programme on 13 February 2026. Convened by Dr. Taiyyaba Razique, the event highlighted Unani medicine’s enduring legacy.

The programme opened with a recitation of the Holy Qur’an, followed by a stirring rendition of the Jamia Tarana. Prof. Syed Naqui Kazim, Officiating Director, delivered the welcome address, inspiring all attendees.

Dr. Mohammad Asif Khan, Assistant Professor from the Department of Ilmul Jarahat at the National Institute of Unani Medicine, shared profound insights on Unani surgical heritage. Dr. Shabnam Anjum Ara, Clinical Registrar from the same institute, elaborated on practical Unani applications in contemporary healthcare.

Students captivated the audience with vibrant cultural shows, including Jamia Tarana renditions and Shayri, blending tradition and creativity.

Dr. Taiyyaba Razique extend a heartfelt vote of thanks, with the event closing on a spiritual note via another Qur’an recitation. Faculty including Dr. Ambreen Khanam, Dr. Fozia Yaqoob, Dr. Salma Bi, and staff members Mr. Dilshad Khan, Mr. Syed Farhan Ahmed actively participated.
