New Delhi, The Embassy of Lithuania in New Delhi, in partnership with the Data Security Council of India (DSCI), co-hosted an exclusive session titled “Women’s Leadership in AI, the Digital Economy and Cybersecurity” on the sidelines of the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi.
The event featured keynote addresses by Lithuania’s Minister of the Economy and Innovation, Edvinas Grikšas, and Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Taurimas Valys. Both leaders underscored the strategic importance of advancing women’s leadership across emerging technologies.

Minister Grikšas emphasized that diversity is a driver of innovation and competitiveness. “Diverse teams build better products, identify risks earlier and adapt faster to technological change,” he said. Noting that women represent 33.4 percent of AI professionals in Lithuania — above the global average of 30.5 percent — he added that the country aims to further strengthen women’s participation in the sector.
Vice Minister Valys highlighted gender equality as a strategic imperative. “Empowering women in AI is not optional — it is strategic,” he stated, adding that inclusive leadership enhances innovation, resilience, and policymaking while ensuring technological systems better serve society as a whole.

Industry leaders also contributed to the discussion. Vinayak Godse, CEO of DSCI, and Atul Kumar, Director for Government Initiatives and Global Trade, spoke about the growing role of women in strategic technologies and cybersecurity leadership, and the importance of collaborative efforts between government and industry.
The session facilitated dialogue on women’s leadership in AI, opportunities in the digital economy, cybersecurity resilience, policy frameworks and capacity building, as well as cross-sector partnerships to foster inclusive digital futures.

The event also marked the Embassy of Lithuania assuming the European Union Gender Championship in India, reinforcing its commitment to advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment through sustained dialogue, debate, and action.
