AMU Cardiology Faculty Shine at UPCSI Lucknow Meet

Aligarh, February 20: The Department of Cardiology, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University made a remarkable academic impact at the recently concluded UPCSI Conference held in Lucknow, with distinguished participation from its faculty and staff.

Prof Asif Hasan delivered an insightful lecture on MINOCA, focusing on management of chest pain in non-obstructive coronary artery disease, and also chaired scientific sessions on diverse dimensions of coronary artery disease. Prof Malik Azharuddin, Chairman of the Department, spoke on emerging indications and controversies surrounding Automatic Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators (AICD).

Dr Mohd Shafiq Alam earned a gold medal for being among the best DM students across medical colleges of Uttar Pradesh, while Mr Abbas and Sister Anumol received Best Employee honours as Cath Technician and Nursing Staff respectively.

As an Executive Member of UPCSI, Prof Hasan proposed JNMC, AMU as a future host for the prestigious conference. Chairman Prof Azharuddin noted that the department earlier organised CSI Prevent and Mid-Term UPCSI. Such platform promote collaboration, innovation, and clinical excellence, strengthening institutional contributions to research and patient care.
