World Kidney Day Observed at JNMC, AMU

ALIGARH, The Nephrology Division of the Department of Medicine, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University observed World Kidney Day with an awareness programme, poster competition, and quiz held in the departmental seminar room.

The programme was organised in accordance with this year’s theme, “Kidney Health for All: Caring for People, Protecting the Planet.”

Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Mohd Khalid emphasized the importance of public awareness and preventive strategies to reduce the burden of kidney diseases. Prof. Ziya Siddiqui, Additional Medical Superintendent, JNMCH, highlighted the need for timely diagnosis and effective management of kidney disorders, while Prof. Shahzad F. Haque stressed the role of awareness, prevention, and multidisciplinary care in managing kidney diseases.

Prof. Khawaja Saifullah Zafar, Chairman, Department of Medicine, spoke about the growing burden of kidney diseases and stressed the importance of early diagnosis and preventive care. Prof. Mohd Aslam, Incharge, Nephrology Division and Dialysis Unit, discussed the theme of World Kidney Day and emphasized equitable access to kidney care and sustainable healthcare practices. Dr. Saif Quaiser highlighted the importance of early screening, particularly among patients suffering from diabetes and hypertension.

The programme was conducted by Miss Insha Firoz from the Paramedical College, Dr. Abdullah Hashmi, Junior Resident, and Mr. Mohd Irfan, Senior Dialysis Technician. B.Sc. Dialysis students actively participated in the poster and quiz competitions, and prizes were distributed to the winners.
