Iran Claims Downing of U.S. F-35 Over Central Iran, Washington Denies Loss

Iranian media outlets, affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, have claimed that the country’s air defense systems successfully struck a U.S. F-35 stealth fighter jet over central Iran, describing the incident as a major military achievement.

According to these reports, the advanced fifth-generation aircraft was engaged during an aerial mission, with the IRGC releasing what it says is video evidence of the interception. Iranian officials have framed the episode as a significant breakthrough against one of the world’s most sophisticated combat jets.

However, officials from the United States Central Command have pushed back on the claims, stating that while an F-35 did experience an incident, it was not shot down. Instead, the aircraft reportedly made an emergency landing at a U.S. military base in the region, and the pilot was unharmed.

Defense analysts note that while there are indications the jet may have sustained some form of damage, there is currently no independently verified evidence confirming Iran’s assertion that the aircraft was destroyed.

The conflicting narratives emerge amid heightened regional tensions, with both Tehran and Washington offering sharply divergent accounts underscoring the growing information battle alongside the military standoff.
