AMU Marks World Health Day with Academic Exhibits and Symposium on Integrated Healthcare

ALIGARH: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) observed World Health Day 2026 with a series of academic and awareness activities across departments, highlighting the theme of scientific, inclusive and community-oriented healthcare.

At the Faculty of Unani Medicine, the Department of AmrazeJildwaZohrawiya, in collaboration with the All India Unani Tibbi Conference (AIUTC), organised a programme on the theme “One World, One Nation, One Science.” Chief Guest Ms. Anita Jain, Member, Uttar Pradesh Minority Commission, emphasised social integrity and inclusive healthcare, while Guest Speaker Prof. Rubi Anjum highlighted the importance of preventive healthcare, interdisciplinary collaboration and community engagement.

Prof. Mohammad Mohsin, Secretary, AIUTC (UP Chapter) and Chairperson of the Department, underscored the need for unity in health sciences, drawing upon the philosophy of “VasudhaivaKutumbakam.” Prof. Shagufta Aleem spoke on the role of AIUTC in promoting Unani medicine, while Prof. Zamir welcomed the participants. On the occasion, Mr. Sagheer Ahmad, a philanthropist and alumnus, extended financial support for research activities. The programme also included a farewell ceremony for MD final-year students.

Meanwhile, the Department of Community Medicine, J.N. Medical College, organised “The Healthscape,” a competitive academic exhibit under the chairpersonship of Prof. Uzma Eram and organisational supervision of Prof. Mohammad Athar Ansari. The event, themed “Together for Health: Standing with Science,” witnessed participation from over 50 students across MBBS, Nursing, MPH and postgraduate programmes.

The exhibits addressed key public health challenges including antimicrobial resistance, air pollution, mental health, cancer burden and lifestyle diseases. Dr. Saifullah Khalid served as Chief Guest and judge, with Dr. Mohammad Salman Shah and Dr. Nema Usman as members of the judging panel.

In the undergraduate and allied categories, first prizes were jointly awarded to Anika Ruman Rahi and Aamra Arif, and Aryan Pratap Singh, while Faizan Akhtar and Shifa Shameem, along with Sameera Sazid Khan, secured second position. Ayisha Rufaida won third prize, and RukhsarAjaz and Bushra Azmat received consolation awards.

In the postgraduate category, Dr. Yuvrajsinh Raj and Dr. Surya Prakash Reddy secured first position, followed by Dr. Alfaateh Mohammad Amer Kedwai and Dr. Mohd Amir in second place. Third prizes were jointly awarded to Dr. Sreerag and Dr. Shahalnas, and Dr. Kamran and Dr. Ali Hasan, while Dr. Riya and Dr. Prateek Kumar received consolation prizes.

Both programmes reflected AMU’s commitment to promoting scientific temper, public health awareness and inclusive healthcare practices, aligning with the global vision of strengthening health systems through knowledge, collaboration and community engagement.
