The Embassy of Iceland recently hosted the sixth session of the UNICEF & Nordic+ Embassies Breakfast Series, focusing on the theme “Powering Girls’ Future Through Equal Energy Access.” The event underscored a shared commitment among Nordic+ partners and UNICEF India to advance dialogue on critical development issues.

Deputy Chief of Mission Tinna Sveinsdóttir opened the session, emphasizing the transformative impact of equitable energy access on girls and communities across India. The opening remarks were complemented by a video message from Iceland’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs, outlining the country’s policy framework on gender equality and sustainable energy.

The session featured a panel discussion with Ambassador Benedikt Höskuldsson, geothermal energy expert Kunzes Dolma from Ladakh, and Dennis Christian, Chief of Social and Behaviour Change at UNICEF. The discussion, moderated by Rachel John, Public Diplomacy and Assistant Trade Officer, explored the intersection of energy access, community development, and lessons from Iceland’s renewable energy journey.
Organizers noted that the theme fostered meaningful cross-sector dialogue on improving outcomes for girls through clean and reliable energy solutions.

The event concluded with a cultural touch, as attendees were served an Iceland-inspired breakfast, including a “Make Your Own Skyr Bowl” station and the traditional Hjónabandssæla, also known as Happy Marriage Cake.
