New Delhi, May 7 — As part of events commemorating the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the Russian Embassy in India, in collaboration with the Press Club of India, organized a special screening of the acclaimed Soviet film The Cranes Are Flying, directed by Mikhail Kalatozov and winner of the Grand Prix at the 1958 Cannes Film Festival.

Addressing the gathering, Third Secretary of the Russian diplomatic mission Ekaterina Lazareva highlighted the profound significance of May 9 for the Russian people. She recalled the immense human cost of World War II, noting that nearly 27 million Soviet citizens lost their lives during the conflict.

The screening was followed by an engaging discussion on the film’s artistic and historical importance.
The event witnessed participation from diplomats, journalists, film critics, scientists, and members of the Indian public.
