Jamia Millia Islamia Hosts Delegation from Purbanchal University, Nepal for Capacity-Building Programme

Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) hosted a delegation from Purbanchal University on May 13 for a capacity-building and institutional exposure programme on Quality Assurance and Accreditation (QAA), university governance, and best practices in higher education, organized in accordance with the Quality Assurance framework of the University Grants Commission, Nepal. This was a second delegation from Purbanchal University to visit JMI. The first delegation had visited the university two weeks ago, on April 29, 2026.

Welcoming the delegation, Prof. Ushvinder Kaur Popli, Dean, International Relations, highlighted JMI’s academic legacy and its commitment to regional academic collaboration. Prof. Tanuja, Dean, Academic Affairs, presented an overview of the university’s academic structure, achievements, and research-driven growth while Prof. Rafat Parveen, Hony. Director, Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), discussed the university’s quality assurance mechanisms, accreditation processes, and continuous improvement practices.

The delegation was led by Dr. Ramesh Babu Kafle, Team Leader of the delegation from Purbanchal University, Nepal, who appreciated JMI’s hospitality and described the university as a benchmark institution in quality assurance, digital governance, and examination systems. He also expressed interest in learning about AI-enabled academic practices.

The interaction included participation from senior academic and administrative functionaries of Jamia representing academic affairs, research, examination systems, quality assurance, administration, finance, planning, and legal affairs. The visiting delegation gained insights into Jamia’s academic governance, research ecosystem, and administrative framework.

The delegation also visited key facilities, including the Central Library and Central Instrumentation Facilities.

The university also placed on record its sincere appreciation for the continued encouragement and visionary leadership of the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mazhar Asif, and the esteemed Registrar, Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, whose guidance has consistently strengthened institutional mentoring, international outreach, and collaborative academic initiatives at the university.

Jamia Millia Islamia sees the visits as meaningful academic engagements and reaffirms its commitment to fostering collaborative partnerships and institutional capacity-building.
