ALIGARH, The K.A. Nizami Centre for Quranic Studies, Aligarh Muslim University, has published a scholarly volume titled Abdur Raheem Kidwai’s Critique on English Translations of the Qur’an (1649–2024): Critical Perspectives, highlighting the academic contributions of internationally renowned Qur’anic studies scholar Prof. Abdur Raheem Kidwai.
Edited by Dr.Aadil Hussain Malik of the Department of Islamic Studies, the volume brings together contributions from scholars in India and abroad. The book examines nearly four centuries of English translations of the Holy Qur’an and discusses themes such as translation studies, hermeneutics, gender perspectives, and digital dissemination of Qur’anic knowledge.
Prof. Abdul Hamid Fazili, former Chairman, Department of Islamic Studies, described the publication as a valuable contribution to Qur’anic Studies and appreciated Dr. Malik’s scholarly initiative in producing the volume.
The Department of Islamic Studies has added the book to its library collection, where it is expected to serve as an important reference for researchers and students of Islamic Studies and Translation Studies.
