Timor-Leste Envoy Highlights India Education Ties at International Graduation Ceremony in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: Timor-Leste’s Ambassador, H.E. Karlito Nunes, participated as the Guest of Honour at the 20th International Graduation Ceremony hosted by Dale View College in Thiruvananthapuram, alongside several Ambassadors and High Commissioners from different countries.

Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Nunes emphasized that education remains a cornerstone of Timor-Leste’s national development. He said the young nation is focused on strengthening its human resources, building robust institutions, and expanding international partnerships to support long-term growth.

Highlighting the strong relationship between India and Timor-Leste, the Ambassador noted that cooperation in education and healthcare continues to deepen. He revealed that, as of 2026, around 600 Indian students are pursuing MBBS degrees in Timor-Leste, while the country also continues to import pharmaceutical products from India. According to him, these developments reflect the growing people-to-people ties and the strengthening bilateral relationship between the two nations.

On the sidelines of the event, Ambassador Nunes and other Heads of Foreign Missions held discussions on expanding academic collaboration between Dale View College and universities in their respective countries. The talks focused on promoting student exchange programmes, research partnerships, and scholarship opportunities across various fields, aimed at enhancing international educational cooperation.
