Gaza’s Civil Defense on Wednesday condemned an Israeli strike that killed an entire Palestinian family, describing the incident as part of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.
According to the Civil Defense, an Israeli airstrike targeted a family home before dawn on Monday. The attack triggered a massive fire inside the building, killing the father, mother, and their children. Rescue teams were unable to reach the family in time, leaving them trapped inside the burning home.
The Civil Defense said its rescue and emergency response teams are facing increasingly difficult conditions as Israeli attacks continue across Gaza. The agency said shortages of essential equipment, fuel, spare parts, and other operational resources have severely weakened its ability to respond to emergencies.
According to the agency, its emergency response capacity in Gaza Governorate has fallen to just 25 percent. One of its main stations has reportedly been out of service for nearly a month due to a lack of oil, spare parts, and batteries needed to operate firefighting and rescue vehicles.
The Civil Defense said repeated attacks on homes and civilians are overwhelming rescue crews, while limited resources prevent teams from responding to every emergency call.
The agency called on the international community, humanitarian organizations, and countries guaranteeing the ceasefire agreement to take immediate action. It urged them to ensure the delivery of rescue vehicles, firefighting equipment, and emergency supplies to Gaza so that rescue teams can carry out their humanitarian mission and help save civilian lives.
