Indian long-distance runner Gulveer Singh created history at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow by winning the silver medal in the men’s 10,000m event. With this achievement, Singh became the first Indian man to win a medal in the men’s 10,000m at the Commonwealth Games.
His historic performance adds another significant chapter to India’s athletics journey at the Games. Singh’s achievement also follows the legacy of Kavita Raut, who won bronze in the women’s 10,000m at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi. Raut was the first Indian athlete to win a track medal at the Commonwealth Games in more than five decades.
