Another incident of violence has been reported in the West Bank, where even an ambulance rushing to help the injured came under attack. On Friday evening, a group of extremist Jewish settlers attacked the village of Abu Najim, southeast of Bethlehem, injuring at least three Palestinian citizens, including two paramedics.
According to local sources, the attackers stormed the village and opened live fire at vehicles. One Palestinian citizen was injured by gunfire during the attack. An ambulance was on its way to the village to assist the wounded when the attackers targeted it as well.
The attackers smashed the ambulance windows and assaulted the medical crew with pepper spray. Two paramedics were injured in the attack, while the ambulance was completely disabled and left unable to operate.
The attackers also blocked the village’s main road. Civil defense crews carrying out relief and rescue work were also targeted and assaulted while performing their duties.
The incident comes amid escalating violence in the West Bank targeting Palestinians and their property. During July, the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission documented 2,256 crimes and violations committed by settlers and soldiers against Palestinians and their property in various areas.
