New Delhi: On the occasion of International Youth Day, Raisina House, UNESCO India and UNEP hosted a panel discussion focusing on the crucial role of young people in building sustainable societies and advancing the green economy.
The event brought together diplomats, youth leaders and change-makers to discuss climate action, equitable development and the importance of involving young people in policies that will shape their future.
Iceland’s Chargé d’Affaires Tinna Sveinsdóttir participated in the discussion and highlighted the potential for greater cooperation and knowledge-sharing between India and Iceland in the areas of sustainability and youth empowerment.
She stressed that youth agency is not simply about giving young people a voice, but also about providing them with the knowledge, opportunities and resources needed to turn their ideas into action.
The discussion underlined the importance of ensuring that the global green transition is built with young people, rather than simply for them.
