ALIGARH, September 29: Various schools of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) organized a series of cleanliness, health, hygiene, and environmental awareness activities under the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, involving students and teachers in promoting cleanliness and civic responsibility.
The Department of Niswan wa Qabalat, Faculty of Unani Medicine, organised an interactive awareness session for students of Madarsa Ummahatul Momineen, Pahasu House, focusing on personal hygiene, sanitation, healthy practices, menstrual hygiene and preventive healthcare. Prof. Suboohi Mustafa, Chairperson, Department of Niswan wa Qabalat, led the departmental participation, while Dr. Abiha Ahmad and postgraduate scholars interacted with the students. Dr. Fahmeeda Zeenat coordinated the programme.
AMU Girls’ School conducted a series of activities under the theme “Swachhata Mein Sahbhag, Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat”, including Swachh Pathshala, cleanliness drives at Cleanliness Target Units (CTUs) and public places, Jan Bhagidari for Swachhata, sports-related cleanliness activities, Swachhata Gyan Yatra, Swachhata Se Samriddhi, Safai Mitra Suraksha Evam Samman Shivir, waste-to-wealth activities, a Swachhata pledge, plantation and an exhibition. The activities focused on cleanliness, hygiene, waste management, environmental responsibility and community participation.
AMU ABK High School (Girls) also observed Swachhata Pakhwada with activities including Swachh Pathshala, transformation of garbage-prone areas, public-place cleanliness drives, Jan Bhagidari for Swachhata, sports and post-event cleanliness, cleanliness activities at tourist sites, Swachhata Se Samriddhi, and a Safai Mitra Suraksha Evam Samman Shivir. The activities encouraged students to take personal responsibility for cleanliness, adopt proper sanitation practices, and appreciate the contribution of sanitation workers. The school also prepared an action plan for future cleanliness drives.
City Girls’ High School organised activities including a Swachhata pledge, campus cleanliness under Swachh Pathshala, an essay-writing competition on “Swachh Bharat, Swasth Bharat”, and Kabaad Se Jugaad (Waste to Wealth) activities based on the principles of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Students also presented a skit highlighting cleanliness, sanitation and responsible civic behaviour. The programme concluded with students, teachers and the Officiating Principal, Mr. Md. Javed Akhtar, planting a sapling to promote environmental conservation and greenery.
The initiatives collectively sought to strengthen Jan Bhagidari, develop healthy and sustainable habits among students.
