Mumbai, October 28, 2025 — Norwegian Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Policy Marianne Sivertsen Næss is in Mumbai for India Maritime Week 2025, reaffirming Norway’s strong partnership with India and its global commitment to a sustainable and inclusive ocean economy.

Speaking at the Ministerial Plenary Session on “Uniting Oceans, One Maritime Vision,” Minister Næss emphasized Norway’s leadership in green shipping, marine innovation, and responsible ocean governance. She highlighted the importance of closer cooperation between Norway and India in advancing clean technologies and sustainable maritime practices.

Earlier in the day, Minister Næss inaugurated the Norwegian Pavilion, engaging with Norwegian maritime companies that showcased innovations in offshore technology, renewable ocean energy, and marine safety. The pavilion reflects the growing collaboration between the two nations in building a greener maritime future.

In the evening, addressing the #Sagarmanthan2025 Inaugural Ministerial Session hosted by Observer Research Foundation (ORF), Minister Næss stressed the need for greater gender balance in the maritime workforce and a safe, inclusive environment for women seafarers.
