JMI’s Faculty of Law presents ‘Nukkad Natak’ on the Theme “Ambedkar Namah” to mark Ambedkar Jayanti

On the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti, commemorating the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, the renowned students’ team of the Faculty of Law, Jamia Millia Islamia, presented a meaningful and impactful ‘Nukkad Natak’ on the theme “Ambedkar Namah” on 13 April 2026. The programme was organized by the Cultural Committee of the Subject Association, Faculty of Law, JMI. The participants of the play are as follows. Participants:Saumya Chauhan, Zoya Hasan, Shahastranshu Mishra, Sana Afrin, Arsalan Beg, Bulbul Bhat, & Written and Directed by : Yagyesh, B.A.LL.B.(Hons.),Final Year.

The ‘Nukkad Natak’ powerfully highlighted the struggles faced by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, portraying the harsh realities of caste-based discrimination and social exclusion that he endured from an early age. Through poignant scenes, the students depicted instances of denial of basic rights, humiliation in educational spaces, and systemic barriers that sought to limit his potential. Despite these adversities, the narrative showcased his extraordinary determination, academic excellence, and unwavering resolve to challenge injustice.

The performance traced his journey from marginalization to becoming the chief architect of the Indian Constitution, emphasizing how his lived experiences shaped his vision for equality, dignity, and social justice. The theme “Ambedkar Namah” thus emerged as a tribute not only to his achievements but also to his relentless struggle and resilience in the face of oppression.The presentation also highlighted the continued relevance of Dr. Ambedkar’s ideals in contemporary society, encouraging the audience to uphold constitutional morality and work towards a more inclusive and equitable social order. The performance was widely appreciated for its depth, clarity of message, and emotional resonance.

The programme was inspired by the visionary leadership of the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mazhar Asif, and the Registrar, Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, whose encouragement continues to promote academic and cultural engagement within the University. The Dean, Faculty of Law, Prof. Ghulam Yazdani, played a pivotal role in motivating and guiding the students in organizing this thoughtful tribute.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members, making it a significant and memorable observance. It concluded with a renewed commitment to the ideals of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity as envisioned by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.
