AMU ZHCET Organises Student Induction Programme for Newly Admitted B.Tech./M.Tech. Students

ALIGARH, Zakir Husain College of Engineering & Technology (ZHCET), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), organised the Student Induction Programme (SIP) 2026 for newly admitted first-year B.Tech./M.Tech. students in accordance with All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) guidelines.

The programme aimed to familiarise students with the academic environment, traditions, values and opportunities at AMU and help them make a smooth transition to university life. Principal Prof. Mohammad Muzammil welcomed the students and parents and encouraged the new entrants to cultivate curiosity, discipline, integrity and a lifelong passion for learning. Dean, Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Prof. Nesar Ahmad, gave an overview of the College.

The students were introduced to the Faculty of Engineering & Technology and its constituent institutions, along with the academic framework, regulations and expectations. Chairpersons and Coordinators of various departments and centres familiarised them with academic programmes, laboratories, research facilities, emerging technologies and career opportunities across engineering and allied disciplines.

The programme also featured sessions on Artificial Intelligence, innovation and entrepreneurship, communication skills, personality development, engineering ethics, physical and mental well-being, National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, outcome-based education, internships, research and higher education opportunities.

Provosts Prof. Saif Saeed and Prof. Sharmin Khan briefed students about residential life, counselling and extracurricular opportunities, while Member Incharge, College Library, Mr Naseem Ahmad Khan, introduced them to library resources and encouraged independent reading and research.

Students also undertook guided visits to laboratories, workshops, research centres, academic departments and the College Library, providing them first-hand exposure to the academic and research infrastructure. The programme concluded with an interactive feedback session, with students expressing enthusiasm about beginning their academic journey at ZHCET.
