The Embassy of Ethiopia in New Delhi is putting into action a tree-planting and advocacy initiative in solidarity with the Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s Green Legacy initiative, the largest reforestation program in the world.
The event saw staff members from the Embassy, Ethiopian students in Delhi, Ethiopian Airlines staff, and H.E. Mr. Ermindo Augusto Ferreira, High Commissioner of Mozambique to India and Dean of the African Diplomatic Corps, covered. The trees were planted on the Embassy grounds, symbolic of unity and a joint pledge toward climate action.

Ambassador Molalign Asfaw, Deputy Head of Mission, assured that the Embassy would never retreat from the Green Legacy Program. He illustrated how trees and tree planting have been incorporated into the Ethiopian national culture and are also accepted into the societies both at home and abroad.
This initiative further cements Ethiopia’s role for environmental sustainability and is another optimistic sign of the growing unity among African countries endorsing green developments and the creation of indigenous solutions to global climate dilemmas.
