Mahatma Hansraj Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MH-MMTTC), Hansraj College, University of Delhi, under the Malaviya Mission Scheme of the University Grants Commission (UGC), in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, School of Engineering Sciences & Technology (SEST), Jamia Hamdard, inaugurated a two-week Refresher Course titled “AI for Educators and Researchers: Concepts, Tools, and Applications Across Disciplines.” The programme has received an overwhelming response with over 200 registrations from participants across India.

The inaugural session featured Prof. (Dr.) M. Afshar Alam, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of Jamia Hamdard, as the keynote speaker. He delivered an insightful address highlighting the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence in education and research, emphasizing its growing impact across academic disciplines.
Prof. Parul Agarwal, Head of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering and Dean, SEST, Jamia Hamdard, welcomed the participants and outlined the department’s commitment to academic excellence through such interactive and interdisciplinary initiatives. Dr. Anurag Kakkar, Deputy Director, MH-MMTTC, introduced the centre and its objectives under the Malaviya Mission Scheme, followed by a detailed overview of the programme by Dr. Sherin Zafar, Coordinator of the Refresher Course. The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Zeeshan Ali Haq.

The programme is being coordinated by the Department of CSE, SEST, Jamia Hamdard, with the efforts of Dr. Siddhartha Sankar Biswas, Dr. Imran Hussain, Dr. Richa Gupta, Ms. Gautami Tripathi, Mr. Aqeel Khalique, and Ms. Nida Iftekhar, who are jointly overseeing the planning and execution of the 12-day academic programme.
Over the next two weeks, participants will interact with more than 45 distinguished experts, including academicians, scientists, policymakers, and industry leaders from premier national and international institutions. The expert panel represents institutions such as IIT Kanpur, IIT Bombay, IIIT Sonepat, NIT Delhi, MANIT Bhopal, Jamia Millia Islamia, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Aligarh Muslim University, Delhi Technological University, University of Delhi, South Asian University, IGDTUW, Central University of Rajasthan, BBAU Lucknow, National Institute of Plant Genome Research (NIPGR), BISAG-N, Ministry of Electronics and IT, SWAYAM–NPTEL, Delhi Police IFSO Cyber Crime Unit, and leading industry organizations including Microsoft, EVERSANA, EduPyramids (SINE IIT Bombay), and FIND India.

The refresher course will cover a wide spectrum of contemporary themes such as future-ready skills, generative AI, ethical and secure AI, AI in teaching, research and assessment, machine learning applications, AI for climate and conservation, cybercrime and AI, digital well-being, data visualization, and AI applications in the photovoltaic industry.
With its diverse, multi-institutional, and high-caliber lineup of speakers, the programme stands out as a rare and comprehensive national-level initiative aimed at empowering educators and researchers with cutting-edge AI knowledge and practical insights.
