According to a report by Gaza’s Government Media Office, 56 Palestinian journalists lost their lives in 2025 while carrying out their professional duties. The report states that since the start of the alleged genocidal campaign against the Palestinian people, a total of 275 journalists have been killed.
In addition, three journalists are still missing, with no information available about their whereabouts. More than 420 journalists have been injured while reporting on events. These figures show how dangerous the conditions are for journalists who are trying to present the reality on the ground.
According to the report, 50 journalists were arrested and subjected to torture, which constitutes a clear violation of international law and the rules protecting journalists during times of war. The Government Media Office described this as a deliberate attempt to silence Palestinian voices and suppress the truth.
The statement said that Palestinian journalists are being deliberately targeted so that the truth does not reach the world. Despite this, Palestinian journalists have continued to bring the truth to light with courage.
This report was released ahead of Palestinian Journalists’ Appreciation Day, observed on December 31, which is held to honor journalists who have raised their voices for truth and justice even under extremely difficult conditions.
