Aligarh, December 31: The alumni of the BUMS Batch 2000 of Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College (AKTC), Faculty of Unani Medicine, Aligarh Muslim University, celebrated their Silver Jubilee Reunion, titled “Bazm-e-Tarab”, marking twenty-five years of shared academic life and professional association.
The two-day programme, held on December 27-28 at Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College, was both a celebration of alumni camaraderie and a tribute to the institution that played a vital role in shaping their careers.
The inaugural session at the AKTC Auditorium was presided over by Prof. Mohammad Gulrez, Former Vice-Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University. Prof. Mohammad Idris, an alumnus of AKTC and former Principal of the Ayurvedic and Unani Tibbiya College, Government of NCT of Delhi, Karol Bagh, New Delhi, attended as the Chief Guest, while Prof. Tajuddin, Former Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine, AMU, was present as the Guest of Honour.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Mohammad Gulrez described alumni as an integral part of AMU and urged them to contribute to the University in every possible manner. Prof. Syed Mohammad Safdar Ashraf, Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine, and Prof. Badrudduja Khan, Principal, Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College, welcomed the alumni and highlighted various avenues for constructive alumni engagement.
Dr. Sumbul Rehman, Organising Secretary, welcomed the dignitaries, present and former faculty members, and the alumni of the BUMS 2000 batch. She also paid homage to departed teachers for their invaluable contributions to Unani education.
The dignitaries emphasised the crucial role of alumni in the growth and development of the University.
The alumni later visited their alma mater and other prominent locations of the University, fondly recalling memories of their student days. The evening featured a musical ghazal programme, followed by dinner at the college lawn. A total of 51 alumni and alumnae from different parts of the country, including Kashmir, Karnataka, and Bihar, participated in the reunion.
Eminent teachers, including Prof. Naeem Ahmad Khan, Prof. Abdul Lateef, Prof. M. M. H. Siddiqui, and Prof. F. S. Sherani, along with alumnus Dr. Mohd. Zubair, addressed the gathering and shared their reflections. Dr. Faizan-e-Elahi proposed a vote of thanks, while Dr. Arshad Jamal, Dr. Ghazala Rehman, and Dr. Tanveer Fatima conducted the proceedings.
The celebrations continued on December 28 with “Bazm-e-Tarab- Family Fun Fiesta”, a get-together of batchmates along with their families, and concluded with a lunch at the Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College Lawn.
