Aligarh Muslim University Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. M. Mohsin Khan, inaugurated a state-of-the-art plasma steriliser, a newly established Rain Basera (Night Shelter), and a renovated meeting room at the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College.
The inauguration was attended by AMU Registrar Prof Aasim Zafar; Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Mohd. Khalid; Principal and Chief Medical Superintendent, JNMC, Prof. Anjum Parvez; MS Prof Naiyer Asif; AMS Prof. Zia Siddiqui; Teacher In-Charge, CSSD, Prof. Fatima; Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr. Husaini S. Haider Mehdi; Finance Officer Mr. Noorus Salam, and senior nursing officers Ms. Hooma Ruhi ANS and Ms. Shabana Parveen.
As part of the initiative, the hospital commissioned an advanced Plasma Steriliser (RL100), marking a significant step towards strengthening infection-control measures and enhancing patient safety. The system is designed for sterilising heat-sensitive medical devices using hydrogen peroxide vapour converted into low-temperature plasma, effectively eliminating microorganisms while leaving no harmful chemical residue.
Hospital authorities said the technology is faster and safer, particularly for delicate surgical instruments, endoscopes, fibre-optic devices and robotic tools, while also protecting healthcare workers and extending instrument life.
The newly inaugurated Rain Basera will provide accommodation facilities for attendants of admitted patients, with bed space for nearly 100 to 150 persons, offering much-needed comfort and support. The renovated meeting room at the CMS Office will now function as a modern space for official and administrative meetings.
