The French Embassy in India hosted “The Evolving Politics of AI Governance”, a high-level discussion co-organised with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in India and Access Now. The opening remarks of the event was delivered remotely by Ms Anne Bouverot, France’s Special Envoy for AI.
Building on the AI Action Summit held in Paris in February 2025, and ahead of the AI Impact Summit scheduled to take place in New Delhi this February, the discussion focused on advancing a rules-based, human-centric global framework for AI governance.

The panelists examined the evolution of global thinking on AI governance, tracing the progression of the global conversation from the 2023 Bletchley Park Summit through the Paris AI Action Summit, while also assessing emerging regulatory approaches and policy priorities shaping the agenda for the New Delhi summit.
AI governance is a core pillar of the France–India strategic partnership. This shared commitment was underscored by the landmark bilateral declaration on AI adopted at the Paris AI Action Summit, which reaffirmed both countries’ resolve to ensure that AI norms and standards are grounded in democratic values and oriented towards human development and the common good.

France and India remain firmly committed to advancing the objectives set out in the India-France Declaration on Artificial Intelligence.
