First Night of Ramadan: A Sea of Devotees Flocks to Al-Aqsa Mosque

In occupied Jerusalem, the scene on the first night of Ramadan was deeply emotional and spiritual, as thousands of Muslim worshippers performed the Isha and Taraweeh prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque on Tuesday.

According to local sources, despite Israeli restrictions, a large number of Palestinian residents managed to reach the mosque. Strict security measures were put in place in the Old City and its surrounding areas, and movement was tightly controlled.

Videos emerging from the scene showed that Israeli forces stopped and searched Palestinian residents and prevented hundreds of people from entering the mosque. Reports also indicated that police entered the mosque’s courtyards during the prayers.

According to the report, the women and men who were prevented from entering the mosque or had previously been expelled performed the night prayers in the streets of the holy city. Meanwhile, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and Palestine, Sheikh Mohammad Hussein, announced that the holy month of Ramadan would begin on Wednesday, 18 February.

The first night of Ramadan brought a message of worship, patience, and devotion, as despite all restrictions, the presence of the faithful reflected the strength of their spirit and determination.
