Ghaziabad, February 26, 2026: The Department of Economics, School of Social Sciences, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Delhi NCR Campus, in collaboration with the V. V. Giri National Labour Institute (VVGNLI), successfully hosted the 2nd International Conference on Advancing Economics (ICAE-26) on February 25–26, 2026. The two-day international conference revolved around the theme “Redefining Growth: Integrating Economy, Society, and Sustainability for a Resilient Future.”
The Chief Guest, Prof. Rakesh Mohan Joshi, Vice Chancellor, IIFT New Delhi, delivered the keynote address. He spoke about the changing global economic order and discussed how excessive reliance on tariffs can increase prices and create instability in global markets. He emphasized the need for diversification and strategic planning in uncertain times.

Keynote speakers Dr. David Wuepper (University of Bonn, Germany) and Dr. Majo George (University of Economics and Finance, Vietnam) shared insights on agriculture, AI, and sustainability economics.
The two-day conference received registrations, including national and international participants.Research papers were presented across various technical tracks in both offline and online modes.
The sessions covered areas such as:
- Labour markets and gender
- Digital financial inclusion
- Climate change and sustainability
- Governance and political economy
- Health systems and public policy
Scholars, faculty members, research students, and professionals from reputed institutions participated actively.
Ms. Gurvinder Kaur, Joint Director (Macro), Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Government of India, delivered a special address. She spoke about India’s macroeconomic strategy, fiscal management, and the importance of sustainable growth in a globalized economy. Her address connected academic research with real-world policy perspectives.
The conference concluded with a valedictory session in the presence of distinguished guests Dr. Arvind, Director General, V. V. Giri National Labour Institute and Dr. Bornali Bhandari, Professor, NCAER
The conference was chaired by Dr. Shivani Chaudhry, Head, School of Social Sciences, co-chaired by Dr. Jitender Bhandari, Academic Coordinator, and convened by Dr. Amit Kumar, Dr. Faraz Ahmed, and Dr. Susanthika.
ICAE-26 served as a strong academic platform for discussion between researchers, policymakers, and institutions. The conference successfully combined theory, policy, and practice, reinforcing CHRIST University’s commitment to advancing research in economics and sustainability.
