Mr. Raqib Raza Khan, currently a student in the VIII Semester of the BFA Applied Art program at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Jamia Millia Islamia, has achieved the distinction of securing All India Rank 1 in Photography Design and All India Rank 14 in Graphic Design in the M. Des Admissions for the academic year 2026–27, which were conducted by the National Institute of Design.
The selection procedure at the National Institute of Design is notably competitive and is nationally acknowledged for its strictness. Around 15,000 candidates participate in the examination, yet only a small fraction advance to the Studio Test and Interview stages. The final selection process is highly discerning, with a minimal number of seats available in each discipline. In this regard, achieving All India Rank 1 is a remarkable achievement and a source of pride for both the department of applied art and the university.
The Department of Applied Art consistently showcases robust academic and professional results. It operates as a multidisciplinary and skill-oriented creative platform that is in harmony with contemporary industry standards. The Department upholds a steady emphasis on curriculum enhancement, technological progress, and professional involvement.
The Department has also been implementing the initiative titled “Building a Bridge between Academic Institutions and Industry” since the academic session 2015–2016. This initiative gathers distinguished professionals and scholars for lectures, workshops, and discussions. During the present academic year, over twenty experts from both industry and academia have interacted with students and aided in their development.
The accomplishment of Mr. Raqib Raza Khan demonstrates persistent academic endeavors, institutional dedication, and an evolving educational framework.
