Saiyyid Hamid Senior Secondary School, AMU Organises Literary Week

Aligarh, Aligarh Muslim University’s Saiyyid Hamid Senior Secondary School organised “Literary Week 2026” from May 11 to 16 with the aim of promoting creativity, communication skills, confidence, and intellectual development among students through a series of literary and co-curricular activities.

The week-long programme commenced with an Essay Writing Competition on the theme “The Mental Health Crisis among Students” along with the “Just a Minute” (JAM) activity. The school auditorium also hosted speech competitions in English, Hindi, and Urdu on the topic “Power of Positive Thinking.” Students enthusiastically participated in a debate competition on “Digital India: Boon or Bane,” while a Language Proficiency Competition was organised to strengthen communication and language skills. The Literary Week concluded with a story-writing activity.

During the valedictory function, Officiating Principal Mr Sabahuddin delivered the welcome address. Prof Syed Naushad Ahmad, former Chairperson of the Department of Geography, AMU, attended the programme as the Chief Guest, while Prof Mohd Azam Khan, Deputy Director, Directorate of School Education (DSE), was the Guest of Honour. Dr Abdul Qadeer, Assistant Director, DSE, also graced the occasion.

Mrs Sadia Nasir presented the report on the Literary Week celebrations. Winners and runners-up of various competitions were felicitated, and certificates were distributed among members of the organising committee in recognition of their contributions.

The successful conduct of the event was coordinated by Dr Ghazala Rashid along with Mrs Sadia Nasir, Dr Shahzaad Ahmad Siddiqui, Mr Samar Iqbal, Mr Mohd Abdullah Usman Khan, Dr Mohammad Abiruddin, Dr Mohd Maroof, Capt Najaf Ali Khan, Ms Aimen Faheem, Ms Uzma Hashmi, and Rayyan Nemat.

Mr Samar Iqbal conducted the proceedings, while Officiating Vice Principal Mr Ashhad Jamal proposed the vote of thanks. Dr Shahzad Ahmad Siddiqui and several other teachers attended the function.
