‘Mind Matters’ Student Wellbeing Workshops Held at AMU Schools

ALIGARH, Workshops under the “Mind Matters: Student Wellbeing Series” were organised at Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh AMU City School and AMU City Girls’ High School in collaboration with the Dean Students’ Welfare (DSW) Office, the Advanced Centre for Women’s Studies (ACWS), the Students’ Counselling Centre, the Department of Community Medicine, JNMC, Aligarh Muslim University, and the Inclusive Futures Foundation (IFF).

At RMPS AMU City School, Officiating Principal Dr. Mohd. Faiyazuddin welcomed the guests, while Prof. Subuhi Khan, Officiating Dean Students’ Welfare, spoke on resilience, compassion and emotional wellbeing, and Dr. Juhi Gupta, Assistant DSW and President, IFF, highlighted the objectives of the workshop. Dr. Tabassum Nawab discussed healthy stress management practices, while Dr. Danish Kamal addressed the harmful effects of substance abuse.

Junior residents of the Department of Community Medicine including Dr. Riya, Dr. Prateek Kumar, Dr. Raj YuvrajsinhMahendrasinh, Dr. Shivani Chaturvedi, Dr. Rohan Kaushik and Dr.Shahalnas presented a skit on substance abuse awareness. The vote of thanks was proposed by Vice Principal Dr. Shahid Jaleel.

At AMU City Girls’ High School, Officiating Vice Principal Ms. Pakeeza Khan welcomed the participants, while Dr. Juhi Gupta introduced the programme. Prof. Subuhi Khan highlighted the importance of resilience and positive thinking with references to Thomas Edison and Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. Dr. Sameena Ahmad conducted a session titled “Mind Master’s Toolkit” focusing on emotional wellbeing and stress management.

Ms. Fabeha Ahmed, Ms. KhashiyaBinte Muneeb and Ms. Aleena Kausar conducted interactive sessions and experiential activities on emotions, self-care and mental wellbeing. A skit titled “Life Behind Filters” on the impact of substance abuse and social media on mental health was presented by Dr. Riya, Dr. Prateek Kumar, Dr. Shivani Chaturvedi, Dr. Rohan Kaushik, Ms. Varisha, Ms. Pragya Chandra and Ms. Shifa Fatima under the guidance of Dr. Sameena Ahmad and Dr. Danish Kamal.

The programmes concluded with certificate distribution and votes of thanks proposed by Ms. Nazish Siddiqui. The workshop at City Girls’ High School was conducted by Ms. Sahar Naqvi.
