A peace agreement between the United States and Iran has been announced; the Strait of Hormuz will reopen.

Islamabad: A significant agreement has been announced between the United States and Iran to end the ongoing tensions and military activities in the Middle East. Under the agreement, it has been decided to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and lift the U.S. blockade imposed on Iranian ports.

It has been stated that this agreement will take effect immediately. Following this, further steps will be initiated toward restoring peace in the region.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while announcing the agreement, said that its formal signing ceremony will be held in Switzerland next Friday, June 19.

In a statement posted on the social media platform X, Shehbaz Sharif said that, following intensive negotiations, a peace agreement had been concluded between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran. He stated that both sides had agreed to immediately and permanently end military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon.

He also said that, with the implementation of the agreement, mediators would organize several meetings this week to ensure that the subsequent process moves forward smoothly.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump said in a post on Truth Social that the agreement with Iran has now been finalized. He announced the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz without any charges and authorized the immediate lifting of the U.S. naval blockade.

The Strait of Hormuz is considered an extremely important route for global maritime trade. Therefore, its reopening is expected to have a positive impact on regional activities and maritime traffic.
