On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day on 14th June, Dr. M. A. Ansari Health Centre organized an Blood donation Awareness Session, HIV and STD Counseling session and, A week long Iron Distribution Camp to promote the spirit of voluntary blood donation and encourage greater community participation in lifesaving healthcare initiatives.

The programme commenced with an informative address by Dr. Irshad Husain Naqvi, who highlighted the importance of regular voluntary blood donation in saving lives and supporting healthcare services. He emphasized that blood is an irreplaceable resource required for emergency care, surgeries, cancer treatment, and the management of various medical conditions. He also discussed the health benefits of blood donation and encouraged students, staff, and healthcare professionals to become regular voluntary donors.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from healthcare professionals, university staff, students, and beneficiaries, reflecting a strong commitment towards social responsibility and community welfare. The Blood Donation Camp served as a platform to raise awareness about the continuous need for safe blood and the crucial role that voluntary donors play in strengthening public health systems.
As part of the observance, the Integrated Counselling and Testing Centre (ICTC) also organized a HIV & STD health awareness programme focusing on women’s health and preventive healthcare. A week long ‘Free Iron tablets’ distribution camp was organized for women beneficiaries to address nutritional deficiencies and promote awareness regarding anemia and other common health concerns affecting women.

The ICTC counselors further conducted counseling and awareness sessions on AIDS&STD (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome) and HIV prevention, sensitizing young people about modes of transmission, preventive measures, early testing, and the importance of eliminating stigma associated with the disease. The interactive sessions encouraged participants to adopt informed and responsible health practices and reinforced the significance of awareness, prevention, and timely medical intervention.

The programme successfully combined the objectives of promoting voluntary blood donation, enhancing public health awareness, and encouraging preventive healthcare practices. It reaffirmed the commitment of Jamia Millia Islamia and Dr. M. A. Ansari Health Centre towards fostering a healthy, informed, and socially responsible community through sustained healthcare outreach and awareness initiatives.
