35 Patients Evacuated from Gaza Through Rafah Crossing for Medical Treatment Abroad; WHO Oversees Operation

As Gaza’s healthcare system continues to face mounting pressure and severe challenges, another humanitarian medical evacuation has been carried out to help patients requiring specialized treatment unavailable inside the territory. On Sunday, 35 patients were evacuated from the Gaza Strip through the Rafah border crossing for medical care abroad, accompanied by 38 companions. According to Gaza’s Crossings and Borders Authority, the entire evacuation process was coordinated and managed by the World Health Organization (WHO) in cooperation with the relevant authorities.

In a statement, the authority said that a total of 73 people departed Gaza through the Rafah crossing, including the 35 patients and their 38 companions. It also confirmed that 73 Palestinians returned to the Gaza Strip through the same crossing.

The authority stated that the World Health Organization (WHO) oversaw all necessary travel arrangements for the patients and their companions, coordinating the medical evacuation operation with the relevant authorities to ensure the process was carried out smoothly.

According to the Crossings and Borders Authority, the evacuation is part of ongoing humanitarian efforts aimed at providing specialized medical care to patients whose treatment is not available in Gaza. The authority added that Gaza’s healthcare system continues to face severe challenges, with increasing pressure on hospitals and medical facilities, making external treatment essential for many patients.
