The humanitarian situation in Gaza is becoming increasingly severe. Gaza’s Government Media Office has warned that, due to restrictions imposed by Israel, there has been a ‘dangerous decline’ in the number of trucks carrying relief supplies.
According to Government Media Office Director Ismail Al-Thawabta, a total of 131,400 aid trucks should have entered Gaza since the ceasefire came into effect, but so far only 48,636 trucks have been allowed to enter. This means that only 37 percent of the required aid has reached Gaza. He said this clearly shows that more than 63 percent of Gaza’s basic needs are still not being met.
According to media reports, the situation worsened further from the beginning of May 2026 to May 18. During this period, 10,800 trucks were expected to arrive, but only 2,719 trucks were able to reach Gaza. As a result, the aid supply rate dropped to just 25 percent.
Ismail Al-Thawabta alleged that food, medicines, and relief supplies are being used as tools of political pressure, causing the difficulties faced by ordinary civilians to continue increasing.
He called on the international community and the countries involved in the ceasefire agreement to intervene immediately. He also appealed for the border crossings to be fully opened and for the safe and regular delivery of relief supplies into Gaza to be ensured.
