Diwali is the most awaited festival of every year. It is significant not only on a social but on a commercial basis also. From decorating houses to lightening up diyas and bursting crackers, every single activity is filled with frolic and fun.

However, bursting crackers is an integrated activity of this festival. No doubt, crackers add fun to this festival but we cannot neglect its hazardous impact on the environment as well as living beings. Be it a human or animal, Nobody can be spared.

As per the Hindu’s latest report, anticipating a rise in pollution levels as winter approaches, many States, including Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Tamil Nadu, have taken proactive measures by imposing an immediate ban on the production, storage, sale, and use of firecrackers.

Interestingly, the govt. has also introduced some rules for bursting green crackers between 8 pm to 10 pm keeping the situation of severe pollution in mind. States like Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and West Bengal are instructed to adhere to the concept of bursting green crackers on festive occasions of Diwali, Gurupurab and Christmas Eve for a limited period while cases have been filed against vendors in Karnataka, who have been advertising, selling, and delivering non-green crackers through online platforms.

This year, we should follow this call of celebrating a safe and eco-friendly Diwali to keep the festive spirit alive without compromising health or the environment.
