The Suriname Embassy in India recently hosted Mr. Abhishek Samuel, Founder & CEO of Zunofy Capital LLC, for a dedicated discussion on the crucial matter of social cash transfer delivery in Suriname.

Even with the availability of digital payment apps, Suriname does not yet have a common national payments infrastructure, which means that there are continuous inefficiencies in its social protection system—particularly at the “last mile” of delivery.

Zunofy offered a solution to this distribution challenge through an interoperable payment rail integrated with the national “Moni Karta” debit card system. Though functioning, the system is still inoperative in remote locations because of ATM scarcity and exorbitant transportation costs, which push beneficiaries to rely on manual, insecure, and delayed cash transfers.

Zunofy’s proposal involves the automation of direct social cash transfers to mobile wallets, accessible to any banking provider, by integrating with the database of the Ministry of Social Affairs. This would provide faster, secure, and more inclusive disbursements.

The proposal has been submitted to the concerned Ministries for further review.
